Small changes to the lips can noticeably affect your facial balance and overall appearance. Recognized as One of the Best Facial Surgeons in Maryland & Washington, DC,  Dr. Sheilah A. Lynch, MD, understands that your lips are a prominent feature of your face; achieving a natural result requires precision, careful planning, and specialized expertise in facial plastic surgery.

Are You Considering A Customized Lip Lift Procedure For A More Balanced, Youthful Appearance?

Genetics play a major role in your facial appearance, including your lip size and shape. Many patients inherit a thinner upper lip or a longer distance between the base of their nose and mouth. A custom lip lift, performed by board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sheilah A. Lynch, subtly reduces the distance between your nose and upper lip, allowing more of the pink inner section of your lip to roll outwards, creating a fuller upper lip and a fresh, youthful when looking at your mid-face.

A lip lift is a lip augmentation surgery that elevates the position of your upper lip. It is performed to shorten the distance between your nose and upper lip, correct a downward-sloping mouth, and create a more youthful and relaxed smile.

There are two types of lip lift procedures: for the best aesthetic results, Dr. Lynch may perform either or both. These are:

  • Upper lip lift

This procedure shortens the distance of the skin between the base of your nose and the upper lip. It reveals more of your teeth and increases the amount of pink lip tissue that shows to create fuller, more youthful-looking lips.

  • Corner lip lift

This surgical technique can be performed alone or combined with an upper lip lift. It corrects downturned lip corners and involves only the edges of your mouth.

Imagine fuller lips that last for years.  Many people think the only option for beautiful, full lips is lip fillers, which require repeated injections. Dr. Sheilah A. Lynch offers lip lift surgery to enhance your lips for years to come.

An upper lip lift is an advanced surgical technique that corrects and reshapes the appearance of the upper lip to enhance the vermilion border and overall lip volume. It effectively shortens the distance between the top of your lip and the bottom of your nose. Combined with subtle fat grafting, Dr. Sheilah A. Lynch can reshape your lips with a lip lift and inject your own body fat to naturally add fullness.

The Benefits:

  • Give your lips a fuller and more proportionate smile
  • Improve the shape and length of your lips
  • Improve the symmetry and overall balance
  • Reduce the signs of aging around the mouth
  • By shortening the length of the upper lip between the nose and mouth, your mid face will look alot younger
  • Improve the thinness and lines by fat grafting

MACS is an acronym for Minimal Access Cranial Suspension. It is very popular for treating the signs of aging or correcting the effects of weight loss in the neck, lower face, jawline, and chin.

Many patients start to see loose skin and sometimes excess fat in their neck, which is often genetic. Or, due to weight loss, they see a lot of excess skin hanging underneath their chin, and feel that nothing can be done about it.

Dr. Sheilah A. Lynch offers patients the surgical option of a  MACS Lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension Lift) to restore and enhance their neckline, reduce jowls, and define the jawline. Dr. Lynch also offers a variety of options for restoring the upper face, including eyelid surgery and fat transfer.

A MACS Lift can also be performed in combination with other procedures like a correction of the nose or an eyelid lift.

The minimal access cranial suspension (MACS) lift is ideal for men and women who still have quite a bit of natural elasticity in their skin. It targets the underlying muscular structures in your face, so it’s a great option if you have some sagging skin, but good skin tone.

The MACS Lift addresses sagging tissues in the neck, cheeks, chin, and around the nose. This surgical procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, whichever you prefer. It is an outpatient procedure, which takes about 2-3 hours to perform.

The MACS Lift procedure begins by creating small incisions in front of your ears and uses vertical lifting to achieve a more natural look. These incisions are in front of your ear and do not go behind it or into the scalp. Your facial muscles will be pulled gently into a tighter position and held in place by suspension sutures made in the deep tissue.

Dr. Lynch will remove excess skin and tighten the muscle layer. Once the skin has been tightened, it is realigned, and she will close the incision.

Post MACS Lift Surgery Patients go home with their head and neck wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed the next day. You will have a drain under the skin behind both ears to collect any fluid that would increase your post op swelling and discomfort.

The drain will remain in place for one day and will be removed the day after surgery.

Minimal initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Sutures are removed within 5 to 7 days. Bruising and swelling decrease to “socially acceptable” levels in 7 to 10 days.

The compression bandage that you will have to wear to help reduce post-operative swelling. This is usually worn night and day for at least five to seven days and then only at night for a longer period.

The final result of a facelift procedure is evident in 3 to 4 weeks or sooner, with continued improvement for several months.

It’s important to follow instructions to ensure proper recovery.

Facial Fat Transfer

As you become older, the effects of aging show themselves on your lower face & neck, adding in the factors of gravity, sun exposure, and stress taking their toll. As your facial skin stretches, the jawline loses its straight contour, and facial lines appear between the nose and mouth. Most noticeable is the skin around the neck losing its elasticity, and excess folds of skin form.

With some patients, Dr. Lynch will add fat (fat transfer) to replace your lost volume. Facial fat transfer or fat grafting restores attractiveness by filling in cheek contours and adding volume at the chin and under the eyes.

It can treat mild sagging skin, and reverse some aging changes in the face.

Yes, you can reclaim your youthful appearance and reverse the effects of rapid weight loss process on your lower face and neck with a MACS lift or lower facelift.  You can improve the signs of using Ozempic or other weight loss medications, as well as help you battle the negative impact aging can have on your overall sense of wellness, self-image, and confidence.

Dr. Lynch is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in Ozempic face correction, facelift and neck lift procedures. She has extensive training, expertise, and a patient-first approach.

A vertical facelift may also be desirable if you have the appearance of jowls and deep creases between the base of the nose and the corners of the mouth, or have developed facial and neck wrinkles. A deep plane facelift may also be helpful if you believe you lack youthful chin and neck contours and/or have a tired facial appearance.

A MACS Lift can reverse Ozempic Face.

A MACS Lift can restore the sunken, gaunt appearance of your lower face and neck from Ozempic Face by:

* Re-tightening the skin from mid-face to the lower section down the jawline and underneath your chin. It will effectively erase the appearance of jowls and other wrinkles, like those around your nose and mouth.

* Corrects the muscular structure beneath your skin, making this procedure effective and giving you long-lasting results. Your lower face and neck will return to a normal, natural appearance.

* This lift combats the effects caused by sudden fat loss, creating laxity of the skin on your face and neck.

* The MACS lift has a shorter recovery than other lower face and neck lift procedures. Because it can be completed with smaller, minimal incisions, patients experience less swelling after their procedure, which allows them to return to their usual schedules sooner than a traditional lower face or neck lift.

*Leaves little to no scarring.
*Restores your naturally youthful look without looking like something was “done.”

A surgical lip lift can improve visible signs of facial aging by enhancing the appearance of the upper lip. Signs of lip aging and around the mouth are a long upper lip, downturned corners of the mouth, the upper lip covering the upper teeth, or smoker’s lines. These changes with aging may cause an unwanted older appearance.

The Benefits of a Lip Lift

While cosmetic fillers can create a natural-looking lip enhancement for many patients, some do not want an artificial-looking appearance. Surgical lip lift  can discreetly restore one’s facial appearance with long-term results and the following benefits:

Improved Lip Shape- Whether genetics or aging has left your upper lip lacking fullness or definition, a lip lift can address this by shortening the space between your nose and upper lip. This enhancement isn’t just about volume; it’s about creating a balanced, proportionate look that compliments your facial appearance.

Enhanced Smile- A lip lift can also significantly enhance your smile. By adjusting the upper lip’s position when you smile, it can give you a more engaging, attractive smile.

Youthful Appearance- As we age, the distance between our nose and upper lip can increase, making your face appear longer and older. A lip lift helps reverse this look by restoring a youthful balance to your mid-face.

Recovery – most patients return to their regular activities within a week. Temporary swelling and mild discomfort may occur for a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. This quick recovery period makes a lip lift an attractive option for busy patients.

Long-Lasting Results A lip lift offers a lasting, cost-effective solution for facial improvement. Unlike cosmetic filler injections, which require regular touch-ups, a lip lift can last for many years with proper care.

Maryland’s Top Lip Lift Surgeon, Dr. Sheilah S. Lynch, offers various types of lip lift procedures, including a central lip lift, a lateral or corner lip lift, and lip enlargement (with filler or fat).

A Lip Flip is when Dr. Lynch injects muscle-relaxing injections (such as BOTOX) just above your top lip to relax it, soften muscle activity when you smile, and allow it to roll out slightly for the appearance of more lip fullness & height. This is a non-surgical lip flip injectables treatment.

A Surgical Lip Lift removes some skin between your upper lip and nose; this area is also called the philtrum. This procedure slightly reduces its height, revealing more of your upper lip and teeth, without the unnatural appearance fillers can create, also known as the duck look.

While both procedures cause  upper lip to show more of the pink side, the results of lip lift surgery are vastly different from lip flip injections in that the injections relax the muscles around the upper lip, while Lip Lift Surgery shortens the distance between the upper lip and the nose permanently.
