What is a Chemical Peel?

A cosmetic treatment in which a chemical solution is applied to your face, neck, or body to remove the top layers of your skin. As new skin grows back, it has a smoother texture, with smaller pores and less pigment. Using a lighter or medium-strength chemical peel, you may need a few treatments to achieve the best results. Chemical peels can be used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin, and scars. They can be done alone or combined with other cosmetic procedures. Stronger chemical peel solutions are done at different depths, from light to deep. Deeper chemical peels for skin exfoliation offer more dramatic results; however, they are more uncomfortable and have a longer recovery time.

Generally, lighter peels can be used on all skin types. If you have a naturally darker skin tone, other, less aggressive treatments can be used to achieve the same results while reducing the risk of hyperpigmentation.

During your skin consultation, Dr. Lynch will determine the strength of your peel. This recommendation depends on the condition of your skin and your expectations of the results after your treatments.

Please keep in mind that sagging, discoloration, scarring, deep facial lines, and severe wrinkles don’t respond well to most chemical peels. If these are your concerns, we offer other cosmetic procedures, such as laser resurfacing, facelift, neck lift, and eyelid lift, that may be better options.

Peel Away...Beautiful Skin The Next Day.

We offer a medium-depth chemical peel for men, a simple, non-surgical treatment that will remove the damaged outer layers of the skin on your face. Your blemishes and scars can be reduced, giving your face a smoother, cleaner appearance.

A chemical peel can improve the appearance of your skin by promoting exfoliation and regeneration, addressing a range of skin concerns.

Exfoliation of Dead Skin Cells

  • The chemical solution applied during a peel works by loosening and removing dead skin cells from the outer layers of the skin. This helps to reveal smoother, fresher skin underneath, creating a more radiant and youthful appearance.

Stimulates Collagen Production

  • Deeper chemical peels can stimulate collagen production, which helps to improve skin firmness and elasticity. This can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a firmer and smoother texture. Reduces Hyperpigmentation and Dark Spots

  • Chemical peels help to even out skin tone by reducing hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and age spots. The exfoliation process removes layers of discolored skin, leading to a more uniform complexion. Improves Acne and Acne Scarring

  • For those with acne-prone skin, chemical peels can reduce breakouts by unclogging pores, reducing oil production, and removing dead skin cells contributing to acne. Over time, they can also help minimize acne scars’ appearance, promoting smoother skin.

Refines Skin Texture

  • Chemical peels can smooth out uneven texture by removing rough patches and damaged skin, making your skin feel softer and more supple. This is especially effective for treating fine lines, small scars, or rough, dry skin areas.

Minimizes Pore Size

  • Chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores by exfoliating the skin and encouraging skin cell turnover, leading to a more refined, even look.

Brightens Dull Skin

  • A peel can help refresh dull, tired-looking skin by sloughing off layers of damaged skin and revealing the brighter, healthier skin underneath. This gives your face a natural glow and enhances overall skin radiance.

Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles

  • Chemical peels, especially medium and deep peels, can target fine lines and wrinkles by promoting cellular turnover and stimulating new skin growth. This softens the appearance of wrinkles, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

Treats Melasma

  • Peels are often used to reduce melasma, which causes brown or gray-brown patches on the face. The chemical peel can break up these patches and improve skin tone.

Improves Moisture Retention

  • After a peel, the skin is more capable of absorbing moisturizers and skin care products, enhancing hydration and nourishment, improving overall skin health.
Chemical Peels - VI Peel - Big Pore Reduction Chemical Peel

A medium-depth chemical peel, a VI peel penetrates the top layer of your skin (called the epidermis) to reach the dermis underneath.

Like other chemical peels, a VI Peel works by exfoliating your skin and stimulating the production of new proteins. It is used primarily to treat signs of aging, improve skin texture, sun damage, reduce acne and correct pigmentary issues.

  • Agin. By reducing wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of elasticity, it stimulates collagen production and promotes cell turnover.

Although melasma can be found on the face of both men and women, it is more common for women, especially pregnant women. Melasma is also referred to as the “mask of pregnancy.” This system can help to lighten this condition.

Chemical peels can reduce or improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scars, uneven skin coloring, and other skin imperfections.
