Let’s be honest, we all have someone in our lives that we know has had breast enhancement surgery, whether it’s breast implants, a breast lift or a breast reduction. Even if you think none of your friends would do that, chances are that someone you know — or see on a regular basis — whether you know it or not, has had a breast enhancement procedure.
The fact of the matter is, breast augmentation surgery, i.e. breast enlargement, is the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States, up 31% from the year 2000. Heck, Breast Lifts are up 89% since then.
No matter what the reason is for getting a boob job, whether its to gain self confidence, just wanting larger + more shapely breasts, recent motherhood or whatever, nobody should feel ashamed for wanting to enhance their appearance, nobody. After all, it is YOUR body, and if YOU choose to have a procedure done, just be confident in your decision, that’s all that really matters. Well … that and having a great, board-certified plastic surgeon, like yours truly.
But just like any “regular” woman who has had breast implants, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars — from A-list celebrities to D-list celebrities — have had some sort of breast enhancement surgery. I emphasize “regular” because in today’s society we are so accustomed to seeing celebrities as these perfect people we look up to, when the truth of the matter is, they are normal people just like you and me … for the most part. The only real differences are maybe a few million dollars and some paparazzi following them, right?
Bottom line is, no matter who you are, there is no reason to ever feel ashamed about wanting to look and feel better about yourself. Honestly, there’s no reason to be shy about it, and luckily for us, there are so many “non-regular” woman out there lending their voice in support. Now, not all celebrities are willing to admit to going under the knife, but there is a laundry list of proud celebrities that are more than willing to admit having work done, and for that we should be thankful.
Here’s what some of the world’s most renowned models, actresses and entertainers had so say about their experience with breast augmentation:
Short and sweet, The Big Bang Theory starlet said it was “the best thing I ever did.” Cuoco continued by saying, “As much as you want to love your inner self, I’m sorry, you also want to look good. I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.”
Pop sensation Iggy Azalea had nothing but praise for her plastic surgeon, saying “He is the reason I have fabulously perky boobs … (LOL).” She continued, “I love them so much, I had to talk about them. I’d thought about it my entire life.” As to why she felt it was necessary to speak up about it, she stated “It’s much freer to say it and then you don’t have to worry someone will dig it up” and “I decided I wasn’t into secret-keeping.”
One of reality TV’s biggest stars, Kourtney Kardashian had this to say, in reference to hiding her boob job, in an interview with ABC back in 2010 ”I have had breast implants, but it’s so funny ’cause it’s not a secret. I could care less.” While her mother, Kris Jenner revealed that she too had breast implants when she was younger, and went back under the knife after 25 years to get them redone, saying “the reason I went in and did that was because I had had my implants for 152 years – you know, a long time. I think you have to listen to your body, and after 25 years, my body was telling me to switch it up.”
Former Glee star and actress turned author Naya Rivera had this to say in Sorry Not Sorry, her 2016 debut book, “My new boobs were a confidence thing, not a sexual thing.” She continued, “People have a lot of opinions about plastic surgery, but more than 10 years after I got my boobs, they still make me happy when I look in the mirror. It might have been the best $8k I’ve ever spent.”
Jersey Shore and reality star Snooki said “Being a mom, your boobs are destroyed after having kids, especially breastfeeding. I want to be hot for my husband, but I also want to feel great about myself, and it was an insecurity that I had.”
Singer and former member of the famed pop group Destiny’s Child said she took 10 years before deciding to have the operation, noting that you have to feel comfortable in your decision:
“Once I felt ready, I tried on padded bras and walked around in them to see how it would feel. You have to know what you’re getting, no matter what type of surgery it is.”
Country music’s original sweetheart, aka The Queen of Country Music, aka The Backwood Barbie said “I’ve slapped a few people who didn’t stare at them! This kind of money, they’d better be looking at them. I just paid a million dollars for them and I hope they look like a million dollars, too!”
