Those in Maryland may wonder what Carrie Underwood has to do with plastic surgery. In 2017, Carrie Underwood fell at her Nashville home and suffered a broken wrist and facial injury that required more than 40 stitches. Initially, she downplayed the injury, informing her fans that she had to undergo surgery for her wrist, but soon plastic surgery rumors were swirling. Specifically, some wondered if she’d had a facelift.
She had canceled performances and wasn’t posting any photos of her face on social media. Then, she revealed that the injury to her face was significant. After a photo was leaked, many began to speculate whether or not she was covering for having a facelift or other significant facial plastic surgery.
Soon, the singer felt the need to dispel the rumors of having had plastic surgery. Incredibly, while she denied having plastic surgery, she also endorsed it. Underwood went on to say, “I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better. But I try not to worry about it,” in an interview in Redbook.
While Carrie Underwood wasn’t recovering from plastic surgery, her choices were smart ones. For those who have procedures like a facelift, especially in the busy Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia area, taking a break makes a lot of sense. Carrie chose to pull back from social and work appearances while she recovered. By the time she chose to return to the spotlight, many couldn’t tell she had just recovered from a significant facial injury.
Similarly, those recovering from a facelift, for example, could take a page from the singer’s book. Not only did she re-engage when she felt comfortable, she returned with added confidence. Justifiably, Underwood wasn’t ashamed, and those who elect to have a cosmetic procedure shouldn’t be either.
Pursuing aesthetic goals is not a shameful practice and taking time to recover is not an act of shame or hiding, but recovery. Returning with a renewed sense of confidence and vigor is an added bonus!
