It’s not unusual to feel a bit stressed or concerned going into a breast enlargement procedure, let alone any surgical procedure, even if it is elective. But fear not!
Breast augmentation is one of the shortest procedures performed in plastic surgery today, requiring just about an hour of time on average. Anesthesia requirements are often a lighter version of general anesthesia that allows you to breathe on your own, wake up quickly and have a much less chance of nausea.
Recovery time is also relatively short. After the procedure, you’ll go home in an elastic bra which is used to hold the breasts in the correct position. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication and sutures are usually removed in 7 to 12 days. Light activities can be resumed as tolerated and aerobic activities can be started in about three weeks.
Because incisions are also quite small — just a few centimeters long — they can be easily concealed in the fold under the breast or in the pigmented area around the areola. Short incisions heal faster, scar less and are easier to conceal, leaving you with a perfect look in just a short period of time.
However, what is time consuming about the whole breast augmentation procedure is the preparation. We make sure you spend enough time deciding what is best for you and make every effort to ensure that your decisions are good ones.
